Top 7 Cruise Essentials for a Fantastic Sailing

Cruising Tips and Tricks

I just had the pleasure of going on a 4-night cruise with Royal Caribbean on the Independence of the Seas. During the planning phase (and to make sure I didn’t forget anything), I utilized a cruise packing list, and I will share some of the most helpful cruising essentials below. This wasn’t my first cruise, but having some of the items for this cruise were absolute lifesavers!!!

What are some of your cruising essentials?

Magnetic Wall Hangers!

Since most cabins on cruise ships have magnetic walls, I was able to utilize a smaller space more efficiently to hold my hats, sunglasses, swimming coverups, towels, and important documents. In turn, the desk and side tables weren’t all cluttered, and the cabin felt more homey and organized.

Water Shoes!

Loved mine! They provide an added layer of cushion and comfort when on excursions! Some of the beaches can be rocky, so they keep your feet safe, and are great to keep those freshly manicured toes looking fabulous throughout your entire trip!

Travel Nightlight!

Cruise ship cabins get very dark at night; therefore, getting around to use the restroom proves to be a challenge. You don’t want to wake up your family by turning on lights, so to combat this, we invested in a small motion sensor rechargeable light to place in the bathroom. Sweet dreams for all!

Book Your Drink Package Early!

If you are someone that likes the all-inclusive experience, I would definitely recommend that you book your drink package early! If the price of the drink package decreases, you can always cancel and rebook with the lower price. However, don’t wait and count on it to go down in price. If you see a good deal, book it then!

Snorkel Gear!

Did you know that you can bring your own snorkel gear? We decided it would be the better option to bring ours along, instead of renting gear on the island that many people have put their mouths on. It fit in our baggage quite nicely, and we are able to utilize it at home as well.

Magnetic Sleeves!

You know those magnetic sleeves that you can put your kids’ artwork and pictures in and place on your refrigerator at home? I created a nice photo on Canva, and hung it in one of these sleeves on the outside of our cabin door. This helped us find our cabin door quickly in the sea of other doors and long hallways after a night of fun! What a lifesaver!

Check Out Your Cruise App!

The cruise app events on your particular sailing are usually available on your app 30-45 days prior to sailing. Take some time to look over the types of events going on throughout your cruise. Most cruises have comedy nights, ice-skating shows, game shows, broadway-caliber musicals, and nightlife that appeals to everyone! Make sure to check out these high-quality entertainment options. Our cruise had ‘Grease,’ and it was spectacular!
